actually, if you were to smoke the equal amount of dmt by itself you would not get the same strong effects. ie the smoked MAOI allows more dmt to get to the brain even within those first 30 seconds.

I know and didn't dispute that. The effect you feel from smoked changa though has nothing to do with MAOI inhibition. Only the 8-24 hour aftereffects are due to the MAOI inhibition. The immediate effects felt when you smoke changa without DMT are a result of the beta-carboline psychedelics which happen to be the same chemicals with MAOI activity, like harmaline.

MAO inhibition leads to a gradual climb in brain levels of catecholamines, giving an antidepressant effect mostly.

MAOI and psychedelia are two separate aspects of the herb. You can't feel MAOI acutely.

Ok, now I get what you were trying to say. however, you are wrong. If you divide the changa mix into it's dmt component and it's beta carboline component then you do not get anything much from smoking the beta carboline component, other than maybe some antidepressant effect for the enxt day or so.

So, obviously if you combine an inactive dose of beta carboline and a small dose of dmt and you end up with a BIG dmt effect then this effect is due to MAO inhibition.

And why are you only referring to MAO inhibition causing a spike in catecholamines? MAOA inhibition works mostly on tryptamines and has little to do with catecholamines.

And you are also wrong about not feeling MAOI acutely [obviously you need a monoamine to feel it though]. Injecting small doses of moclobemide gives virtually no effect, yet doing so together with dmt will amplify the effect of the dmt multifold.

Seems you are quoting from some very outdated and largely irrelevant medical texts.
