Other Drugs>Metronidazole - Has this antibiotic messed up my weekend?

Hello!

A friend of mine has just told me he's going to be having a big party on the weekend. Sadly I'm taking Metronidazole and both my doctor and chemist (as well as the leaflet) stressed not to drink alcohol. I finish the course on the day of the party and then the next day I'm supposed to be going out somewhere else. Looking through the threads here MDMA and ecstasy doesn't seem to be a good idea. Does anyone knows if ketamine or coke are bad ideas too? And do I really have to wait 48hrs until I can drink again?:-)

I don't seem to have any side effects from these antibiotics apart from some itching skin.

thanks a lot for your time and help.

Also is it possible to stop the course and then restart it later?

I can't answer your question but-
MDMA = Ecstasy.. they are the same (well, they're supposed to be).

You don't want to stop antibiotics only to go on them later.

You should be fine, just don't drink alcohol. I wouldn't know if it would interact or not - probably not.

Definetely do not drink while on that stuff and i wouldnt take anything else either. It produces a ant-abuse type reaction if you drink alcohol on it. So you will puke very very violently and probably want to die until this effect wears off.

Alcohol is a pretty shitty drug IMO you shouldn't drink it as is.

Among Metronidazol's possible side-effets is "seizure risk". This side-effect is not classified as "common" as far as I remember, but it has the label "certain" (ie Metronidazole has been proven to cause seizures). This is something to bear in mind when doing some stims.

Otherwise Metronidazole is not a toxic drug so if you fuck up your course you can embark on a new one later. What I mean is, taking it two weeks longer than strictly necessary is not that harmful.

dont stop and start your course, it defeats the purpose of taking antibiotics altogether.

You absolutely should not drink alcohol. If you drink alcohol wile on Flagyl you will vomit until you're hurling bile. This isn't one of those things where drinking may make you sick or prolong recovery... it's a guarentee :-)
