Methadone Maintenance thread

Hey whats up bluelighters!? After searching for some type of methadone maintenance thread, I couldn't find one, and could only find methadone vs. suboxone type of threads.. So here we go...

I Have been abusing opiates since I was 16 years old.. Im currently 23. Started out just like everyone here probably with popping 2-3 lortab 10's everyonce in a while and getting really high. Then when I was 19, My high school sweetheart who I was engaged to cheated on me with my best friend, and left me. In turn, I needed something to self medicate and take the pain away, And I knew cocaine or meth wouldn't really do anything to help me with that. So after looking for only around 2 weeks, I was working at a gas station at the time and met a couple guys that would come into my store and always buy blunt sticks. I knew all too well what was up when I looked into their eyes (pinpoint pupils, glassy) and Got a hook up for 80MG OC's for only 30-40 bucks. Everything went downhill and eventually I graduated to black tar heroin.

Now 1 week ago, I got enrolled at the MMT clinic. The clinic is only a 15 minute drive from my house, and there was absolutely no waiting list. It only took me 3 hours to get enrolled and have my first dose. I got up to 45MG's today and will be able to go up to 50MG's tomorrow... Im starting to feel stabilized on the methadone, and I figure ill be completely comfortable either tomorrow off 50MG's or somewere around 60MG's... I also had my first counseling session today, But it wasn't really a counseling session, all the lady wanted to know was what my past drug use was like.. I have to go to the clinic every single day to get my dose, Besides on saturdays I get my dose for saturday, plus I have to take a lock box in for them to give me my take home dose for sunday because they are closed on sundays... So what about you guys? Who else is on methadone maintenance? What MG dose are you guys on? How far of a drive do you have to go each morning? Was there a waiting list? Just curious about details on were you guys are from! Thanks

There is a methadone thread in DC. I'm on a methadone taper right now. It has been 15days since I last did H. Anyways go check that thread out in DC.

Wait a minute..."lock box" for Sunday's dose? How does that work? Some nifty time-release thing, it'll only open on Sunday?

Don't mean to be glib; I'm on Methadone for pain maintenance (80mg a day) and I just get 240 pills a month. I could just swallow them but I choose to dissolve them and drink them or push them. Anyway, the lock-box thing piqued my interest...what's that about?

and yeah good luck with your mmt - it saved my life , i was so far gone on heroin i am greatful that i found and was brought to methadone maintenance therapy. cheers mate!

hahah no no its not a time release type thing... Hahaha. Basically you have to buy one of those metal lock boxes with a lock and a key. You know, the type you see people having that are running a garage sell? the one that they keep their money in? You can get them at walmart for like 11 bucks or something and its metal and has a lock on it and comes with 2 keys. And you have to take the box with you into the clinic on saturday, the give you your dose for saturday, then they give you a little cough syrup type bottle with your dose for sunday in it, and they have to physically watch you put the bottle inside of your lock box and lock it with the key... Kinda stupid, like that is going to stop you from selling it or as they call it "doubling up"... I am responsible with it though, I don't sell my take home, or "double up"... Im such a model MMT patient!! hahaha... I just take mine when I wake up sunday like im suppossed to..... If I wanted to keep getting high, why in the hell would i be in MMT in the first place??? I don't get those people that do that kinda stuff, Like my buddy who is also in the same clinic as me.. He sells his doses, or takes both his saturday and sunday dose on saturday at the same time so he can get his "high" on.. But then when he wakes up sunday he doesn't have anything for the day and when monday comes he is withdrawaling pretty bad. Hes an idiot.
