How long does oxycodone oral dose usually last for you ?

heyy so im really just curious to know how long oxycodone done orally, lasts for everyone on here.
No one say search or anything because i just wanna see what you guys say now about it and how long it lasts you usually.
For me any oral dose that gets me high 20mg or higher will usually last 3-4 hours but sometimes i find it acctually goes away kinda quick about 2 hours.
Anyone else on here notice that oxycodone lasts kinda little ?. How much does it usualy last for you guys and do you think its good enough or not long enough lol

Oxycodone is extremely short acting for me, I'm lucky to get 3 hours, whereas I get 8-12 with morphine.

Wikipedia says the half life is 3 hours, I am inclined to believe that.

I think the "official statement" is the analgesia of a small dose of oxycodone lasts ~4 hours or something like that.

For me, it depends upon how much I take. If using a 10-20 mg dose, it lasts maybe 2.5 -3 hours max, whereas if I take at least 30-45 mg I will feel it for 4-6 hours.

I take oxycodone ir 60-75 mg every 4-6 hours when needed, and I find it usually last about 3.5-4 hours, sometimes longer... like up to 5 hours. I have no idea what causes it to last longer when it does, though. I actually went through a period of time after I have been taking it for quite a while where it was only lasting an hour or 2. Getting off of it and trying something else for a couple of weeks helped a lot, although it sucked at the time. When I returned to oxycodone it was really cool; it lasted for the normal amount of time again, and I haven't had any problems since.

the high lasts around 3 hrs for me, if i take tagamet, the high lasts for 4hrs, i hate the short halflife of oxycodone, but because of how extensively metabolized through the 450 family, you can inhibit enzymes to increase the duration. that is what i like about oxy, and the high is nice

I need at LEAST 150mg, more like 200mg.. that lasts me 4hrs of a nice warm buzz but a glow can be felt for hours after that.

When RX'd for pain, its take nevery 4-6 hrs.

i tend to neck a 40mg slow release along with about 10mg none slow reease. so i get a gradual increased buzz throughout the day. this is my second run with this stuff after a 1 year break so my tolerence isnt massive again yet... one thing ive always wondered with this is why u can never sleep when ur on it?? i always thought it would be a mongy thing but its a lot more upperish than expected. i think thats why i like it so much

Mikey, I noticed the same thing. That's why I like it, along with its great pain relieving properties. I definitely notice that it gives me sort of a "pick me up" that I haven't experienced with other opiates/opioids.

I know what you mean. I don't take anywhere near that much, but compared to normal people my does is pretty high... whenever I have to fill out paperwork for a specialist or something like that, they always sort of raise their eyebrows at how much I take...I WISH I could go back to the point where 10 milligrams was perfect for me

im just getting back to that stage where my standard dose only rids me of WD and doesnt really give me a buzz.. im trying to steer clear of upping it cos i know where ill end up. i used to be able to smash 80mg oxy and 100 mg morph in one and not even bat an eyelid... dunno what to do tho now cos i cant see point taking it if im not getting high but i dont wanna take more cos ill need more again. suppose thats just addiction summed up.. just denying the inevitable really lol

i hope ppl realize how dangerous that dose is.
most ppl stand the chance of od'ing w/that dose..esp. iv'd.
and mixed with a benzo/alcohol/any other cns depressant..
the odds of od'ing go up DRAMATICALLY.

Two hours if im lucky, empty stomach, first thing in the morning. Oh and always crush the pill to powder and take it with a full glass of water.

B/c when I was at my worst: 15 x 80mg oxy / day, 4-5 hours post dose and I started to think w/ds were creeping in, and at 6- hours, I was getting very uncomfortable.
I always thought this was too quick for real w/d to set in and my mind was just messing with me, but then would think about my large tolerance and frequent redosing schedule and would think maybe not...

Any thoughts on how fast the very 1st stages of w/d can appear with oxy?

The high for me lasts about 2 hours or so where i 'feel it'. When my tolerance was way way lower, a buzz would last me 4-5 hours.

I think each of our answers could refer to any of the above-I took the question to mean: How long does a single dose last before we notice that it's not in effect anymore? I guess it depends on what each individual is hoping to acheive by using the drug. Some take it purely for recreational purposes while others take it for pain relief alone. I imagine many take it to achieve a bit of both.
Anyway, I didnt think the OP was wondering so much about how long it takes for wd's to set in but I certainly could be wrong

We are talking about oxycodone right ? Not oxycontin... There is a big difference between taking a dose of Oxycodone rather than taking the wax coating off oxycontin and crushing it..

Yeah I suppose a person's situation plays a huge factor in what they are refering to by "how long"

For me, I needed to 100's of mg's per dose just to feel ok. I was at the point where NO dose, no matter how big would give me euphoria, doses either kept me well or put me to sleep/into a nod---but not that euphoric nod you get in the begining, just a sort of my eyes won't stay open nod.

When I started with opaites, before being physically dependant, an oral dose oof oxy would have me "high" in a pleasant, buzzing, social, very recreational way for about 3 hours, with the afterglow lasting until I fell asleep.

When I first got physically dependant but still enjoyed the highs, a dose would have me high for about 2 hours with some nodding the last 2-4 hours.

When I was very addicted, many years into it, 2 relapses into it, the high would last about an hour. And. When I was dependant on very large doses, I would only feel "high"-ish, for 20-30 minutes, basically the time when I could feel the drugs kicking in.

But this wasn't the same high as before. Its the same with methadone for me now, I wouldn't call it a high, but for about 30 minutes when the methadone is coming on, I can "feel" the drug working. And even though I'm just going from methadone at low levels to high levels, just feeling a change is kinda like a high. (I'm on 140mg per day for about 1 year now)


So I guess it really depends on ones own unique situation, but oxy does definately have a more energetic buzz than dope at leeast in the begining of ones use, so it does feel like the "high" fades quicker than the high from dope. But this is b/c the dope high is very sedating and it is tough to tell where the high fades and the afterglow sets in with dope. Whereas with oxy, that line is more pronounced.
